Hiromi Uekusa (Cello)

Hiromi Uekusa attended the Music High School attached to the Faculty of Music of the Tokyo University of the Arts.

After graduating from the Tokyo University of the Arts, she was a member of the New Japan Philharmonic for 10 years. During that time, she studied 2 years in Cincinnati and held a recital there.

After leaving the New Japan Philharmonic, she released “Café 1930”, a CD with music from Piazzolla. At the CD release presentation concert that was held at the Opera City Recital Hall, Uekusa performed a number for the first time in Japan and was very well received.

She has appeared at NHK-FM’s “Afternoon Recital”, Carnegie Hall and Sogetsu Hall.

She has also recorded with Japanese and foreign artists.

Presently she is a lecturer at the faculty of music of Seitoku University. She is also a member of Ensamble Forte..

Recently she has been performing in a duet with harpist Risako Hayakawa under the name “Sound of the Sky”. The theme for the duet is “healing music”.

At the same time, she performs as first cellist in chamber orchestras and orchestras.

 

She released the CD “Itsukano Utsukushii hi no yoni” from Disc Clasicca on July 27, 2011.
